"Dame Fortune" was written around an original poem by Duncan Campbell, a Scot and a seafaring man born in Torryburne, Scotland on the Firth of Forth, the 22nd of August 1827. The poem was found in Duncans journal which was given to Garold by Duncans own ancestor, the good lady Barbara McKissack.
